Print Scout Overview

To enable Secure Print, Print Scouts must be deployed to employee workstations. The Print Scout is lightweight software that performs several tasks. Specifically, the Print Scout:

  • Provides a simple setup wizard (called Secure Print Setup Guide) for each user to register with Secure Print and begin to print securely.
  • Submits, holds and releases documents securely.
  • Includes the HP Secure Print desktop app
  • Collects user printing data for reporting purposes, including:
    • User information from Active Directory.
    • Information from the printer that releases the print job (via SNMP).
    • Print job data via print stream analysis.
