User Card Registration
Card Registration allows users to register their Card Readers at secure printers. Once registered, users can print documents from any secure printer in the organization.
Enabling Card Registration
To enable card registration, navigate to the Secure > Device Profiles screen and enable the Card Reader Registration (under User Experience). When this setting is enabled, users can register their Card Readers at the secure printers using their email and PIN (for email-based auth) or network ID (for Active Directory auth). Once a Card Reader is registered, users can release documents from any secure printer in the organization.
Note: If you have OpenID implementation, card registration is supported only on printers that support passcode authentication only.
Disabling User Card Registration
The Card Reader registration setting is enabled by default. For centralized control, administrators can also choose to disable self-registration. This adds an extra layer of security; it ensures full control over the cards being registered in the environment. With this option, users attempting to register their card at a printer will see a simple message informing them of the appropriate action to take.
To disable user card registration, simply set the Card Reader Registration to "Disabled" from the Secure > Device Profiles screen (under User Experience).
Note: You can import cards into Secure Print if user card registration is turned off.
