Document Print Release Workflows
HP Insights offers multiple delivery options for print release, designed to provide flexibility and reliability across different network and deployment scenarios. These options determine how print jobs are stored, transmitted, and released to printers, ensuring secure handling whether jobs remain on-premises or use cloud capabilities. This section outlines the four available delivery options and the workflows that combine them to meet diverse organizational needs.
There are four delivery options for HP Insights print release:
-
Personal Print Scout Release - Print submission and release occur on the same workstation.
-
Crowdsource Print Scout Release - Print submission and release occur on different workstations.
-
Virtual Print Server Print Scout Release - Print release is handled by a Print Scout running in Print Server mode.
-
Cloud Pull Print Release - The secure printer pulls the print job directly from the HP Insights (no Print Scout involved)
Workflows may use one or more of these delivery options:
-
Local Storage - The print job never leaves the customer’s network. Submission and release use the employee’s personal Print Scout.
-
Cloud Storage & Crowdsourcing - Submission stores the job locally and in the HP Insights. Release uses the employee’s personal Print Scout if online; otherwise, it uses cloud backup and an available crowdsource Print Scout.
-
Cloud Storage & Virtual Print Services - Submission stores the job locally and in the HP Insights. Release uses the cloud backup and a virtual print server Print Scout. The employee’s personal Print Scout is not used.
-
Cloud Storage & Pull Printing - Submission uploads the job to the HP Insights. The secure printer pulls the job directly from the cloud. The employee’s personal Print Scout is not used.
